Community Manifesto

The ParrotSec community is dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and productive environment for security researchers, developers, and privacy enthusiasts. We believe that open-source security is a collaborative effort that thrives on diverse perspectives and collective intelligence.

In a field as complex as cybersecurity, misunderstandings are common. We ask that all participants approach every interaction with the assumption of good faith. Before reacting to a comment that feels dismissive or critical, consider that the author may be facing a language barrier, a technical hurdle, or simply a different communication style.

The best way to secure a system or write a script is often a matter of intense debate. We encourage vigorous technical discussion. However, participants must remain tolerant of opposing views. Diversity of thought leads to more robust security solutions; lean into the disagreement to find the better path.

To maintain a productive atmosphere, we adhere to the following:

  • No personal attacks: Focus on the code or the concept, never the person.
  • No disparaging remarks: Language intended to belittle, mock, or insult a contributor’s background, skill level, or identity has no place here.
  • Constructive feedback: If you find a flaw, offer a solution or a resource for improvement.

We are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or imagery.
  • Deliberate intimidation or stalking.
  • Sustained disruption of discussion.

TL;DR
We are here to build, break, and learn together. By choosing to contribute to ParrotSec, you are choosing to uphold these standards and foster a global community that values security, privacy, and humanity.
